The Carbon Farming Era: Why a Trading Company Chose to Start With Soil

2026 - 10 - 22 Tundrr Industrial (Shanghai) Co., Ltd

Every harvest begins long before the seed — it begins with the soil.

Yet across the world's drylands, soil is quietly breaking down. Organic matter falls, salinity rises, and the answer is too often "more chemical fertilizer" — which makes next year's soil worse, not better.

A different idea is gaining ground: carbon farming.

Governments are starting to treat soil carbon as infrastructure. Kazakhstan, for example, has adopted a 2024–2030 roadmap to restore soil fertility by increasing soil carbon — and biochar is one of the most practical tools to do it.

Biochar locks carbon into the soil for centuries while rebuilding its structure: better water retention, better nutrient holding, healthier roots. It is soil restoration and climate action in the same handful of black granules.

This is where Tundrr started. Before we were a sourcing company, we asked a simple question: what does farming actually need to last? Our answer became a product line — carbon-based soil conditioners and biochar organic fertilizers, field-proven in tomato programs in China and now restoring land with partners across Central Asia, the Middle East and South America.

Healthy soil. Secure harvests. Farming families who prosper on their own land. That was our starting point, and it still is.

Restoring degraded land or planning a carbon farming project? Let's talk.
